Why a dog-friendly practice makes the difference

For many dogs the tension begins in the car park: unfamiliar smells, other animals, a busy waiting room and the memory of previous visits. Stress not only makes the visit to the vet unpleasant. It can also make the examination more difficult and distort readings such as heart rate or blood pressure.

A dog-friendly practice addresses exactly this: it reduces the flood of stimuli at every single point of the visit. The calmer and more predictable the process is, the more relaxed your dog stays, and the easier the next appointment becomes too. Our practice in Cremlingen is designed precisely for this.

What makes our practice dog-friendly

  • Waiting area with secluded waiting bays: you and your dog wait in your own screened bay, with distance from unfamiliar dogs. This avoids direct encounters and takes the tension out of the situation from the start.
  • Separate outdoor waiting area: if you prefer, you can wait with your dog outside rather than inside the building, in the fresh air, with more space and fewer stimuli.
  • Dedicated entrance for dogs: dogs that would rather not go through the waiting room reach the treatment room directly and calmly via a separate entrance — entirely without encountering other animals.
  • Wait comfortably outdoors, with a pager: you receive a buzzer or pager and can spend the waiting time relaxed on our lovely outdoor grounds. Your dog can move around freely and sniff; as soon as we are ready, you are notified. This is considerably less stressful than waiting inside the building.
  • Floor-level dog scale: our dog scale is set flush into the floor. Your dog simply walks across it, no lifting, no raised platform. This makes weighing quick, safe and stress-free, and gives us reliable readings for preventive care and medication dosing.
  • Free treats as a reward: at reception and during treatment we reward your dog with treats — free of charge. This creates a positive association with the visit to the vet.
  • Separate waiting areas for dogs and cats: dogs and cats do not meet in the same waiting area with us. This noticeably eases tension for both species.
  • Short waiting times thanks to appointment consultations: we work with fixed appointments. The shorter the waiting time, the less tension builds up.
  • A calm, patient approach: we take our time, work with a calm voice and slow movements and give your dog room to settle in.

How you can make the visit easier for your dog

A dog-friendly visit is teamwork. With a few small things you can support your dog further:

  • Arrive a little early: that way your dog can relieve itself before the appointment and settle in calmly.
  • Bring a favourite treat or toy: something familiar helps your dog stay calm, and complements our reward.
  • Let your dog come slightly hungry: a dog that is not completely full accepts rewards particularly readily. This makes the positive association easier.
  • Stay calm yourself: dogs pick up the mood of their people. A relaxed voice works more powerfully than any reassuring word.
  • Tell us if your dog is anxious: when booking or at reception. Then we plan the outdoor waiting area, the separate entrance or an especially quiet appointment from the outset.

Dog-friendly for every visit, from preventive care to treatment

Whether it is the annual preventive appointment, a vaccination, a dental check or a necessary treatment: the calm, dog-friendly process applies to every visit. It pays off particularly with recurring appointments, a dog that gets to know the practice as a predictable, friendly place comes more relaxed next time.

Puppies benefit from this too: the more positive the first visits to the vet, the more relaxed your dog will be about examinations throughout its life. Please feel free to ask us about a short, friendly "getting-to-know-you visit" for your puppy.
